A Life Story Book is much more than a scrapbook or photo album. It is a personalized history that captures an individual's life journey, treasured memories, meaningful relationships, accomplishments, interests, and life roles. For older adults, particularly those living with dementia or other cognitive changes, a Life Story Book serves as a bridge between the past and the present, helping caregivers connect with the person beyond their diagnosis.

Grounded in the principles of person-centered care, this course explores the many practical and therapeutic uses of Life Story Books in long-term care, assisted living, home care, and memory support settings. Participants will learn how these books can promote meaningful conversations, support individualized care, provide comfort during times of anxiety, strengthen relationships with family and caregivers, reinforce identity and dignity, and create opportunities for purposeful engagement. Practical guidance will be provided on gathering information, organizing content, and incorporating Life Story Books into daily care, activity programming, and interdisciplinary care planning while honoring each individual's preferences, abilities, and personal history.
